About Our Eye Camps


al-salama-eye-camps-img4Al Salama Eye Hospital conducts free Eye check up camps throughout looking to the special needs and lack of care for eye for the poor people and the needies. Large number of contributors all over Kerala now come forward and join us with this project with the goal of giving special care for the eyes which are the lamp our body.

We aim at a minimum of 200 patients in a camp. The patients who are diagnosed with cataract are given free treatment, surgery and stay if required. The patients who are prescribed with spectacles are provided with the same at a minimum cost from the camp site.

We also conduct screening tests in schools to find visual defects in students. The screened students are taken to hospital and treated.


Camp Details


Al Salama Eye Hospital has a group of 18 members including a doctor, counselor and an optician. The camp is conducted from 9.00am to 2.00pm aiming at 200 patients in cataract camp and a maximum of 90 patients in Diabetic Retinopathy. We have conducted about 10,000 camps within this short period.

Camp organizers have to give the requisition for conducting camps. Advertisement of the camp should be given before and after the camp and the report of the same have to be handed over to the camp coordinator. Token number should be provided to the patient at the camp site. Advertisements of other optical shop or dispensaries should not be there on the camp notice. The camp site should be a hall with a minimum of 6 meters length for vision checking and it should be arranged (with minimum of 8tables, 13 chairs, 8 stools) before the camp group reaches the site. There should be electricity supply, food supply for staffs and toilet facilities.


Diabetic Retiopathy Camp


The patient who are diabetic for more than 5 years and likes to attend the diabetic retinopathy camps should register their names before attending camp. As the fundus examination requires a detailed check up eye dilatation is a must, so all patients should reach the camp site before 11.00am. There will be a cloudy appearance in eye after dilatation for about 8 hours. If diabetes have affected eye then follow up is required for which patient have to come to our basement for further evaluation and treatment, where registration will be free and treatments like laser will be given 25% discount. For very poor people on the request of the organizers 50% discount will be provided.
